AboutI graduated with a B.A.(hons) in Fine Art (Sculpture) in 1984. Throughout the 80's and early 90's I worked as a freelance sculptor, teacher and resident artist at several schools and colleges in West Wales. In 1992 I was invited by Cliveden Conservation Workshop to work on the restoration of the hand-modelled stucco at Uppark House and in the following year helped form the Featherstone Statuary Company to undertake the restoration of 36 fire-damaged roccoco panels at Prior Park in Bath. Both these projects were awarded the Humber Silver Salver (the highest accolade in the industry).
Throughout the remainder of the 90's I formed (with Rene Rice) Kervaig Associates, completing several prestigious projects including the conservation and restoration of the late baroque plasterwork at Norwich Assembly Rooms, and in 1999 a new hand-modelled stucco ceiling at Buckland Abbey for the National Trust. Since the turn of the millennium I have worked with Geoffrey Preston on the new plasterwork for the Nash Gallery at Buckingham Palace, the Ritz and Charlotte Square in Edinburgh. Other projects include the conservation of the spectacular late 16th plasterwork to the barrel vault ceiling at Chard Court Room (for Carrek). Since 2006 I have worked on several award winning projects for Bristol based ornamental plaster company Hayles and Howe including in 2007-8 the restoration of the lime plaster components to the tomb of King Edward II at Gloucester Cathedral, a monument of international importance. In 2011 I designed two state room ceilings which again won the Humber Silver Salver, and in the same year designed and modelled the bespoke plaster relief walls for a dining room at Cheval Lodge in London, described by the designer Joanna Wood as “an exquisite work of art and a showcase of true British craftsmanship”. I continue to create work of the highest quality in clay, stucco, plaster, wax, wood and stone at my studio in Bristol. |
